The water project

Water project Västerbergsskolan, Mölndal Sweden
At our school we have forest nearby and we often use it to learn things connected to nature.
In this water project most of the classes were out in the forest to examine and study water related things.

Pre-school class:
The pupils started to guess which things would float in water and which things would sink.
They had good guesses and were really excited to try the experiments.
They also tested colored water, does it taste differently and if so, why? Are we affected by how things look?

Grade 1:
They watched the grade 6 film about the water cycle and then they talked about it.

They also sang the Water-song.

Grade 2:
During a trip to the creek in the forest they found some frogs. They brought the frogs to school and there they talked about the life cycle of frogs.

Grade 3:

The teachers started to ask the pupils what they already know about water and what they would like to know. Almost everyone would like to know how to clean water. So they took a trip to the creek with some coffee filters to clean the creek water. They have also worked with the water cycle.

Grade 4-6:

The pupils have worked with the water cycle. They worked in the class room and created both drawings to explain it and grade 6 made a film about it. They spent a whole day in the forest by a lake called Trinde Mosse. The pupils went for a walk and answered some questions about the water cycle and the photosynthesis. They looked for water animals by using a landing net.
